I just clicked the “donate” button on the GiveMN website to give to Live Action Set, the Minneapolis-based physical theater company I co-founded and currently act as Artistic Director when I’m not acting as a goofball with Cirque du Soleil. It is Give to the Max day in Minnesota, and for those of you who don’t know, that means that a percentage of total donations to our cause will be matched by other funding sources. So is a great day to see your contribution go further. Give to the Max day ends in 5 hours at 11:59 PM CST and I’ve been struck with appreciation as I take stock of those who have donated already. Being on the road, I am lucky to have perspective on what’s important. Friends, family, and a place to call home. I love my job on tour with the circus and I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I also love feeling that I have a home in Minnesota and people have not forgotten about my intent to create share work of artistic excellence. Much of my free time is spent planning shows and events for Live Action Set and discussing projects with directors who will create work that will fulfill the mission of the company. I’m happy to say that this coming year, and those to follow, won’t disappoint anyone. Looking forward to coming home in January for a few days and making snow angels, seeing through frozen eyelashes, and feeling warm hearts.
